We are your SUSTAINABILITY A.C.E., providing complete:
- Architectural & Engineering Services
- Consulting to green new or existing buildings
- Educational courses and seminars
Our focus is on incorporating the principles of sustainable design in to every project, no matter the size or scope, on time and within your budget.
Our firm was established in 2003 by Architect and LEED Fellow, Jason Kliwinski, with the belief that it shouldn't have to cost more to build green. After more than a decade of built projects in the Residential, Commercial, Higher Education, K-12, and Hospitality markets, we've proven this to be true.
Through our association with the Green Building Center, we also offer a host of specialty consulting services to cater to the unique needs of our clients and the sustainability market such as carbon neutrality master planning & implementation, commissioning, energy modeling and net zero energy/water/waste design. Our partners and staff serve a wide range of individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations. We are experts in the green building field and harmonizing the often conflicting constraints of budget, schedule, operations & maintenance, and aesthetics that impact our clients' sustainability.
Our headquarters is located at 51 Bridge Street in picturesque Lambertville, New Jersey along the Delaware River. We also have a satellite office in midtown Manhatten at 5 Penn Plaza, Suite 1971 near Penn Station. We are licensed to practice architecture in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania but have consulted on projects in Florida, South Carolina, Mexico and California as well and delivered educational seminars globally.
When working with a client we utilize an integrative project delivery approach that is unique in the industry. This approach fosters a collaborative environment and brings all members of the team, including the contractor, architect, engineers, product suppliers, owner, and specialty consultants, to the table early in the design process and often throughtout its completion. Why does this matter?
Integrative Project Delivery (IPD) is essential to ensuring your goals are understood by all parties, properly reflected in the design documents developed by the team, correctly budgeted for during design so there are no surprises when it comes time to start construction, and followed through on during construction to realize the goals set completely and cost effectively.
IPD Contracts look different than conventional design-bid-build contracts. They are co-signed by all parties and the language of these contracts is directed at fostering collaboration and interdisciplinary interaction rather than adversarial relationships that often lead to finger pointing and change orders in a conventional approach. You can view our sample contract, based on the Consensus 300 document here. While our preferred method is the IPD approach, we are willing and able to work in conventional design-bid-build models as well, after all, that is what we grew up with and understand just as well as IPD.
We would encourage you to think differently about how your project is delivered. As Albert Einstein said, the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If you truly want to save time, money, and achieve higher levels of performance simultaneously, we must change the way we deliver these project too.
If I told you I could deliver a building that saved you operating costs in energy, water, and waste while delivering a superior indoor environment for its occupants and do so at no additional construction cost, wouldn't you want that? If so, please contact us and lets bring your vision to Life.
